Worthy

Worthy is the second label of the Axios winery, a Napa Valley giant. Axios is the Greek translation for the word worthy. Worthy enjoyed overnight success with its Sophie’s Cuvee blend that stormed onto the market in 2001. Over the years Worthy have become recognized as a household name in cult wines. Winemaker Bob Egelhoff is responsible for the production of Axios and Worthy wines.

2004 Worthy Cabernet

This is a great Worthy bottle that introduces the senses to a festival of flavor, aroma and texture. To open the wine is deep plum and rich on the nose. Black fruit and cassis greet the senses and deliver on the palate. The mouth is filled with warmth and velvet texture before enjoying a hint of spice on the finish.

2003 Worthy Cabernet

This bottle opens up to a warm garnet glow and reveals red fruit and plum on the nose. This is a finely balanced traditional cabernet that flows like silk onto the palate. To taste the bottle is rich with cassis and black fruits and has supple tannins. The finish is long with a hint of oak in the after taste.

Simi Winery


Simi


Giuseppe and Pietro Simi founded the winery in 1876. The brothers had traveled from Italy to California during the gold rush, finally settling in San Francisco. In 1881 they discovered Sonoma County and purchased land there to establish the Simi Winery. The brothers enjoyed early success but tragically died within 4 months of each other leaving the winery to Giuseppe's 14-year-old daughter, Isabelle. The winery continued to thrive under her guidance. Isabelle sold the estate in 1970 but remained involved in the winemaking. Over the course of Simi’s modernization the winery enjoyed the expertise of many great winemakers that brought traditional Semi wines into the 21st century.

Chateau Rieussec



The Chateau Rieussec has a long proud winemaking history that spans back beyond the French revolution. The Chateau has earned its reputation for classic Bordeaux wines through its consistent production of world-class vintages. In 1971 after changing hands numerous times during the revolution the vineyards were purchased by Albert Vuiller. The new owner couldn’t turn his harvests into profit and his interests were further stunted when his land was decimated by hail in 1977. In 1984 a substantial investment from Domaines Rothschilds boosted the vineyards potential. With the new captial Rieussec wines were able to develop further and the label found renewed success.


2004 Chateau Rieussec


This is a classic fresh wine characterized by its warm opulent golden tone and its elegant nose. A bouquet of candied citrus and yellow fruits develop into a fresh fruit palate that lingers on the senses. This is an age worthy wine but can also be enjoyed in its youth.

After several trips to France he went to work on a life long dream. The goal was to produce a world class Californian Bordeaux blend. Pahlmeyer released his first vintage in 1986.

The Justin Winery was established in 1981 when Justin and Deborah Baldwin purchased land on California’s central coast. In 1970 Bernard Portet a French born winemaker came to Napa Valley to search for an estate for his employer American businessman John Goelet. The American wanted to purchase a Napa vineyard with the potential to produce world-class wines. Goelet purchased 150 acres in California’s Napa Valley on Portets advise and began his harvest. The first Clos Du Val Cabernet Sauvignon was produced in 1972 to rave reviews. Since then the Clos Du Val name has become synonymous with hand crafted exclusive quality wines. This first vintage Clos Du Val was selected as one of only 5 Californian cabernets to be appreciated at the famous Paris wine tasting in 1976.

The Chateau Palmer has a long proud wine making history that spans back through history to the early 1800s. Charles Palmer arrived in France in 1814 and fell in love with the Bordeaux. He began purchasing land in the area and extended his property to encompass 163 hectares. Palmer left the estate in capable hands to return to England where he presented his Bordeaux wines to the British Aristocracy. The modern era of Chateau Palmer began in 1938 when the Sichel, Mähler-Besse, Ginestet, and Miaihle families purchased the estate. Descendents of these families are still the major shareholders in the estate.
